AAPL 3 hours later

AAPL 3 hours later, originally uploaded by rickcharon.

Here is the chart 3 hours later. We had a gain at one point that was

quite nice, but now showing a loss. At 1305 MT sold for an 85 profit on

10 contracts. Seemed to have a hard time selling, going to check Think

or Swim to see if they get better fills.

The New Lunar Day

The New Lunar Day, originally uploaded by rickcharon.

Well, I didn't record much the last 2 weeks, the end of the March Lunar

Day. The trades I made went well, again my ,"pick",  rate was above

90%. The Closing is the trick though, when to Close. This reminds me

very much of selling magazines when I was a kid. Getting into the sell

was hard, but much less demanding of skill than "Closing" the sale. So,

just as in sales, "Closing" is the key element for success. This Solar

Day, April's Day pretty much, options will be the focus. They follow a

much different trajectory than stocks. It is interesting to look at

Options Chains for a given contract and see that on a day when the

stock went up, the gains across calls and puts is only about 90%

reflective. I.e., - there are puts that gain ground, calls that lose

ground, and many of each that tread water. One of the biggest issues

I've had with Options is Volume. IF the Volume isn't there, forget

about it! So, let's see how the month goes.

AAPL Apr55 C @ 8.60. Worried about the fills I get from Interactive

Brokers. I use smart routing, so  at the mercy of their system.  The

"model", with no tweaking, is showing 8.64. Since I'm paper trading,

the actual trade would have probably entered differently. Pretty low

volume at this strike.

Week's Recap

Well, this was the week of Monitoring. I feel that using Prophet and IB is enough. I can get everything from one or the other. My picks did very well. I don't think I entered any positions that didn't hit a profit point, some of them quite nice profits. So, this next week is about exiting. Stops? Bracket Orders? Profit Targets? Stop Loss points? I will spend all of next week focusing on these.

Prophet JavaCharts: GGD-OH

Prophet JavaCharts: GGD-OH, originally uploaded by rickcharon.

I'm going to take a flyer on the GOOG March140 put. In at 5.6 at 11am. The general mkt is sucky and GOOG is going to under perform the mkt.

Prophet JavaCharts: NYX

Prophet JavaCharts: NYX, originally uploaded by rickcharon.

First day NYSE trades as a private company. My inclination is to get in at 10.55 at 75.05.

MONITORING - Looking at the BigCharts Major Markets Indexes, http://bigcharts.marketwatch.com/markets/indexes.asp, and Market Summary, as well as a glance at the Kirk report openning statements, http://www.thekirkreport.com/. Today looks rather gloomy for most things, so this NYX position may be it.

Today's Action

I had two positions open, WTZ and WPCS. I used Prophet to monitor the charts, and set reasonable stops. Then I came back around noon here, 2pm in NY, and exited both trades. That's the form the monitoring took. Thats the theme right now, monitoring. Last week was entry. So the picking is feeling pretty good, defining my screens and looking in the results for patterns I like. Then entry last week felt pretty good. Pretty much everything made some upward progress along the line. Monitoring needs a bit more work. Exiting is yet to be addressed. Found a new website, http://www.trading-naked.com. Fellow trades Futures, and uses EFT, Emotional F T, an interesting Acupressure kind of discipline. More on that at http://emofree.com.
So, What do I want to do re monitoring? How? When? How often? What tools? Today I used the watchlist feature at Prophet.net. Gives me charts, but only daily, though they are updated regularly, and price info. Thats better than just charts, because I see all positions at once. Also, peeked at the day-minute charts of group occasionally to get good info about the individual issues. What about averages, mkt news, etc?

PLLL weekly

PLLL weekly, originally uploaded by rickcharon.

PLLL is pulling up off a temp bottom. It could easily gap up Monday

(today is Friday).

Prophet JavaCharts: PLLL

Here I am at the 1min chart. people are unloading. Now it's getting some support. Think I'll check in again Monday. Kind of want to buy, but it's a long weekend!

Prophet JavaCharts: SIFY

Prophet JavaCharts: SIFY, originally uploaded by rickcharon.

So this is what I'm seeing with SIFY and her dragon thing, here on the 10day10min chart, she is very upright. I think she'll roll down a bit again, flatten out, and then rise again.

ALKS is doing the dragon thing, but opposite of SIFY. Here we are up on

the Daily and down on the Weekly.

I would NOT buy ALKS now, it is plunging, and a consecutive rise is not necessarily (always possibly!) going to happen.

This dialy chart with the Fib lines, using the flag breakout as a 50%,

predicts a rise to 15.

SIFY Daily

And on the daily, you can see her moving downward, from the standing up

on the weekly to the laying down on the 2hr.

SIFY Weekly

SIFY is upright on the weeklyh chart, laying down, floating, resting on

the 2hr chart.

Trading Notes 3/1/6 ENTRY is the only theme today

Early this morning I was thinking that continuity is what I need to look at. To play the long side, find one that is going up and expecting continuity, going down or sideways and expecting a break in continuity in the up direction. See what we see with this approach.

Prophet JavaCharts: ATHR

Prophet JavaCharts: ATHR, originally uploaded by rickcharon.

ATHR - Gapped up 1/31/6, and has been slowly rounding up every since. 10 min chart at 1050 shows it going into a flag-upward wedge after jumping over 6% at 900 on heavy volume. 1053 it is doing a small cup and handle on the 1min chart. I'm going in at 22 1053.

ATHR daily

ATHR weekly

ATHR weekly, originally uploaded by rickcharon.

2/25/6 Gaps cause me great concern. But I know sometimes

they don't fill for eons. I'm moving this off the sl for now. First red

flag weekly for many weeks.

1/30/6 Aftermkt. trading has it up around 18. Might have missed the

ship on this one.

1/27/4 Well, it did and I didn't yet. There is a big double bottom,

touching down in Aug04 and Apr05. This predicts a price well above 20.

1/23/6 IF it shows continued upward momentum, and breaks through

15.20,  buy.

1/20/6 Note double bottom, 7/4 and 5/5 (7/30, 4/29 weekly chatr). This

looks like it is on its way up.
